I had the Coasteltech lock pick installed into my 2012 F150 Platinum about amonth ago. Two weeks in the radio went black. About a week later it came backon. Everything started working again except the DVD player. It would not excepta DVD or seem to rotate when trying to eject. I had to have it removed so Icould have it fixed by Ford under warranty. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
The whole radio has to be replaced. <o></o>
I have already invested $200 in install/de-install and $300 for the lockpick. I’m really wanting to try it again but I am concerned it may happenagain.<o></o>
When Installing the unit is there any weird security things that have to bereinstalled after taking it apart? I saw someone mention on a forum about therebeing some kind of plastic item that to had to be reinserted so that the truck wouldn’tseem like its stolen?<o></o>

Any comments or suggetions?<o></o>

It sounds as it was just a "luck of the draw" that your h/u went belly up. This past Dec the LP decided to do some crazy stuff and I had it replaced under warranty. Seems it would decide not to work and made the H/U go on and off. Disconnecting the LP did the trick and like I said replaced under warranty. The instructions say to go through the installation steps, but it's been my experience it does a self install with almost all the options turned on. When I took it out, all I did was unplug it and didn't do the removal steps as outlined in the instructions. H/U worked perfectly. There's no "holding your mouth the right way" to install it. It does what it says. Hope you bought it from Coastaletech instead of a different vendor. Something goes wrong with it you have to go back to the original seller for warranty. Coastaletech won't even talk to you about it. Don't pay to have it installed, it takes about 30 mins to pull the dash plate, remove the H/U and change out the plug wiring. Use some cable ties to secure the box so it won't be jumping around rattling

Long story short. I bought one off Ebay in early part of September '12. That was the one that went on the fritz the first of this year. I contacted Coastal to get it repaired, they wouldn't do it directly, I had to send it back to the ebay seller which I did and got it returned in about 6 weeks. It cost me 5$ shipping to get a new one back from the ebay vendor.
