Depends completely on brand. If you're going for the cheapest, expect to get the cheapest. If you buy a decent name brand (kenwood, clarion, alpine, pioneer, panasonic) then it will be good, just not as cheap as the pyle and other "generic" name brands. If you can be a little more specific about exactly what you want - for example fold down screen for the rear, touchscreen in dash for the front, etc etc I can give you product recommendations.
I bought a Clarion video screen off of eBay. It was $100 less than Crutchfield. Brand new, in the original package, no problems. I installed it in my Expedition over a year ago. Like Big Matt said, stay away form Pyle or the other cheapos. The picture is not bright or sharp.
Oops, sorry 1999XLT, I confused Sponge Bob for Big Matt's dancing smiley face. But, its still a good point to stay away from Pyle unless price is the ONLY factor!
On the Friday Morning Specials at Ultimate Electronics they had an entire video system (roof-mounted screen and dvd player for $388. Don't ask me what kind though.
