1994 F-150 Heater hoses/core?

As the title says, I have a '94 F-150 V6 that I purchased a bit ago from someone who could have taken better care of it.

There were two hoses just not connected to anything that at first glance appeared to go to the cab - and not wanting to vent fumes directly into the cab, I plugged 'em until I figured out where they are supposed to go.

According to the Hayes manual, the (green arrow) hoses are the heater hoses - the inset close-up is very similar to what they have in the manual.

But, they don't seem to clearly indicate where the other end of the hoses go - because it seems there are some variations on where the heater core is.

I'm assuming the hoses are to go where the orange arrows indicate, but not really sure what that part is, or why that hose on both the orange arrows seems so unnecessary.

I have a neighbor with a very similar model down the street. Maybe I'll ask him if I can look under his hood.

Larger sizes of the photo are available here: 1994 Ford F-150 V6 Mystery Hoses | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Will

The green hoses will go to the orange arrows, It looks like the PO had a heater core leak and was too lazy to replace it and just bypassed it...

Thanks! I suspected about as much, but needed a more experienced/informed opinion.

And that PO had to be the laziest person on the planet, it probably took more time to setup that bypass hose than it does to change a heater core in our trucks. Seriously, it takes about 30 minutes to stick in a new heater core.

10 year old thread brought back from the dead…..

I doubt you will find a kit for heater hose. Heater hose is sold by the foot so figure out how much you will need to replace both hoses and pick up four new clamps.

Thanks for the reply but I did find a full kit that contains all the STOCK components to replace the heater hose assembly at LMR.COM and though it is pretty expensive, it has all the right stuff. The various components present in the kit include parts that seem unobtainable individually and they're cut to the proper lengths to save installation time.

I got this kit with all pieces shown several years ago at summit for a bit over $100, price is up considerably.

https://fcrcmachine.com/1988-94-ford...hose-kit-5003/

Summit's list for same stock# looks different & lists fewer items in kit.

I can pay a lot less than 85 with a very short trip to the amazon or similar website for hardware/hose or a trip locally to a auto store for hose/hardware or even easier to an auto store for the hose and hardware store for the "special bits" that make your kit special.

Then I can copy the factory hose orientation/lengths/setup or I can make it the distance I want to route it nicer or better.

For a lot. Less. Than. 85$

ignore the HEI sbc stuff. Those hose lengths did my square body, repaired my car when I had to do an emergency bypass on my heater core when I used some of the extra to make a small loop with a barb that stepped the difference in diameter. I also have used one as a drain hose for a radiator petcock for another vehicle and I have a small section left of the larger diameter and a length of the smaller Diameter I could probably do most of my smaller line on my truck

ignore the scan tool, here you can see my two heater hoses and the part that goes to the radiator is partially circled. if your v8 has a vastly more complex system, do tell but I think you got "hosed" with 85$

Before putting those on I would remove, the bolts/plugs, and flush the heater core, then use one bolt/plug, and stick back in one hose, and stick a water hose on the other to pressurize the heater core, to see if it leaked, before adding antifreeze, and it get dumped in your floorboard.

Why not replace the core if in doubt? $25 and sub an hour install.
