Well guys.....last post for this thread from me. I visited the Dodge dealer today and I can get a new 2012 SLT 4x4 crew cab with a Cummins A/T for $37K before fees and they are treating me right with my trade ins. That being said I think a 2500 Cummins will be a massive improvement over the ecoboost while towing my trailer. Heading back there today to do the deal! Thanks for your input, I just cannot see buying a 1/2 ton when I can buy a 3/4 ton diesel for the same price!
I can't blame you for that I did the same thing. I tried so hard to buy a Ecoboost but I could never get what I wanted out of my trade with Ford nor the amount of money I wanted off on a new one.I went and looked at Dodge. and I got my 2500 4x4 for way less than it would have cost me for an XLT F150.. the Cummins is nice. just a little harder on fuel than I would like.. Good luck I hope you enjoy your new truck.
FINALLY! Got my new 2012 3500 Crew Cab Dodge 2wd with 3.73's home today! Would have liked a Ford but sheesh they just cost way to much more! Driving home in mixed driving I reset the mpg average and the thing was reading 21.7 when I arrived at home. Seems kind of high so I ran around the neighborhood for 5 or so miles in a bunch of stop and go and it went down to 18.7 so.....I'm very pleased!!! Thanks guys for your info I will miss FTE but maybe I'll be back with a new Ford someday in the future!
[QUOTE=Going_Going_Gone;12259243]You might take your Suburban to Carmax and see if they will make you an offer on it. I've heard where buyers took a better Carmax offer to their dealers and they reconsidered their lowball offer. At any rate, Carmax is usually not particularly generous unless it's something they can turn around quickly, so it would be independent confirmation as to whether Sanderson's offer was legitimate.[/QUOTE
I respectfully disagree about Carmax. I've had them appraise a few of mine and they DRASTICALLY LOWBALL every time! I've often wondered how they can sell nice vehicles so cheap. After my experience with them, I know how...they buy vehicles off those who are desperate to unload them. Not trying to step on toes...just my personal experience/opinion.
I never liked the interiors of he Dodge trucks, but that's a personal thing. The cummins is a heck of a good engine, and if you are towing, you won't be disappointed.
For my use, a diesel would be overkill, I've still got my eye out for an ecoboost, whenever my live-in accountant deems it a required expense, which won't be this year for sure.
, whenever my live-in accountant deems it a required expense.
well dose your live in accountant also control the recreations say in the love life area as well? if so i see the problem.
dam shame yup it is dam shame for sure i feel for ya.
Hey guys just though I'd drop in a nd say hi again!! Have 6,257 miles on the Cummins now and everything is all good. Been getting 14.5-16 mpgs city and 19-20 mpgs highway. The mileage I've been getting has been really surprising with the DPF and EGR equipment that's still installed! Overall I can't believe that I'm liking this truck better that my Excursion but I am! The truck spins the tires through 1st gear and chirps the tires into 2nd gear at wide open throttle. It's got a ton of power with that 800 lb. ft. of torque!

I had an '05 2500 Quad Cab, 4x4 Cummins. With a tuner, straight pipe, intake, injectors and larger lift pump I was putting down about as much power as the '13 are now and getting 16-17 in town and 21 Hwy. Your right, even with the old 48re 4-speed my truck would spin the tires violently from first through 2nd gear.
Hopefully Chrysler errrr RAM <----- I still chuckle to say that instead of Dodge Lol but anyway I hope they have improved the axles and suspension on these newer trucks. I couldn't keep my '05 aligned for crap since new, Dodge rebuilt my front end 3x's in 40K miles under warranty because all the bushings would wear out. Truck also blew the OEM intercooler (My fault, running too much boost in the tune) and the power steering pump gave up the ghost at around 46K miles. I loved the truck when it wasn't eating up it's suspension parts though.
