98 expy grinding noise
I have a 98 ford expedition 4x4 with the 4.6l engine that has been givng me numerous problems the most recent problem is that there is a grinding noise. Iv narrowed it down to the transmission because the noise goes away in neutral. In park, reverse and drive 1 and 2 the noise is pretty loud. Seems to be loudest around 1000 rpms and gets a little quiter and goes away with higher rpms. The longer you drive it and warm it up sometimes make it quiter but never goes away and sometimes it doesn't change. I do have a decent size tranny fluid leak coming from the area around the lines or possibly from the radiator. But the tranny shifts flawlessly and has never ran low on fluid or givin me any issues other than this loud grinding noise. The fluid is pretty black and smells burnt. Thanks for any help fellas
