So I'm in my kitchen when I hear the sound of a engine revving in my driveway. I go out and there's a guy sitting in my truck attempting to drive it away. It was a repo man (little behind on the payments) he slim jimmed the door and was using a ring of Ford master keys to start it. So he gets in starts the truck and slams it in gear and nothing happens because the tranny is broke! He said he'd be back later with a tow truck. The truck is currently on cinder blocks and is missing the wheels and tires. Hey no need to make it easy right? I'm actually trying to think of ways to chain it down, really frustrate em. Him and his partner thought I had a transmission lockout switch on it. I politely asked them to leave. Something I found out in the past is that if you ask a repo man to leave he has to do it under the peaceful repossession law. I also know they can't move one vehicle to repossess another. I'll have to see if I can get a friend or neighbor to park a vehicle in front of mine. Maybe I can part it out in an afternoon and let em reposess an empty shell. Post your spare part wish list here! 99 F-150 4.2 V-6.
Bobby, It ain't that funny. I don't know how you got upside down in your truck, there are only fifty million salesmen that would such a thing, you must have run into one of them.
When they take the truck, they are going to sell it for whatever they can get and you are on the hook for the rest.
I would suggest you go back in time and sell it yourself and give them all the money. You will owe less than what they are going to sell it for.
I hope you are not active duty CG because they could have it taken right out of your paycheck/s.
Good luck, I don't wish this on anyone, especially one of us.
Let's see.... you owe them money. The truck is their property. A man (or men) is being paid to retrieve that property and you're going to make it hard for them to do that. Doesn't sound funny to me..... sounds like purloining.
Yes, (you are wrong) paying a dollar a month shows that you acknowledge that you owe the money and want to pay.
The numbers on the contract are what counts. Before you ever get three months behind, you should have been doing a face to face and working with him/her.
What is a purloin? Sounds dirty to me. I'm not active duty so I can't be Masted for not paying my bills. This won't be the first repossession. Nothing says I have to make it easy. Right now the truck is on cinder blocks, the wheels are in the garage and I wrapped chain around the rear axle to fence posts and pad locked it. If they want my truck they're gonna have to earn it. My payment is $338/month and I've been sending in around $200/month. I wonder if it's too late to get a couple of Dobermans from the local animal shelter and chain em to the front bumper......

If it is the only bill you are behind on, talk to someone about a refinance. $200 is a decent effort. You just need to explain to a lender your situation. Check with Consume Credit Counseling Services for other ideas. Most lenders would rather get something than nothing.
They want their truck back so they can sell it to someone that will pay them, so they can put food on the table for their kids and make their monthly payments.
I have been the repo route when returning a piece of Chevy junk Camaro to GM because it was in the shop for over 1/2 the time I owned it. When it set itself on fire, I left it right at the dealership and did not make anyone come and get it.
I had an obligation to pay until my case came to court.
Though I ended up getting a different car in the end ... which turned out to be a piece of junk like the Camaro. Last new GMs I ever bought.
I'm not really seeing the "funny" part of this situation. If this is your 2nd repo, then you may want to reevaluate your entire program, 'cause something's not right. You might as well let the repo man take the truck - it's not yours anyway. Quit wasting his time. Remember, he's just trying to make a legit living like the rest of us.
