Hello everyone
So, just wanted to say hi to the group. The explorer is my daily driver however I also do currently own an early model 74 datsun 260Z and a 76 280Z both under full restoration.
This site is quite jam packed with info!!
My sister had a 74 240Z and let me take it out for a scoot one night. (Now this was DECADES ago.)I got it up to around 125mph before the cops got on my tail.
Not gonna relay the outcome on a public forum, so lets just say that IS one fast and agile car!
Feel free to jump in and enjoy FTE with everyone! I think you will find there are a lot of very knowledgeable people that come here and can help with just about anything you could have happen or go wrong.
Hope to see you around !!
Need to clean the MAF sensor, replace the rubber plugs in the trans, (could't target for the life of me the source of my leaky trans) found a good explanation of why the autolites are running much better than the Bosch platinums I had in there and a gravity bleed should take care of my clutch issues.
I haven't had my truck all that long so I am still learning my around this one.
Targus,
Actually if your sisters car was a 74 than it was a 260. 240 prod ended in 73 due to stricter emissions laws forcing DATSUN to increase emissions and to compensate changed the motor. The early 260 is not much differant than the 240 other than the 2.6 liter block and badging. The early cars shared the light skinny bumpers for half a year with the 240 as well as the turn signal indicators under the front valance, then halfway through 74 the fed regulations mandated stricter crash protection, therefore the 260 got the fatter bumpers and the turn signals moved half into the grill and half out. Also, 74 was the intro of the 2+2.
Sorry for the DATSUN history on the FORD board =)
As for your police story, lets just say in my early 20's my 280Z got me in some very inconvienent situations so I can relate. After much time to think about things, and some very expensive lessons, I am a new man
God Bless America
I was thinking about that this afternoon and remembered it was a 72. I don't feel too bad about getting it wrong by just 2 years, after all it was my sisters car and it was a long time ago.
