Rear end question

I thought all 67-77 Broncos had a 9 inch. I have a friend who claims other wise. Whose right?

They all had a nine inch rear, just different bearing size. The front diff changed from a Dana30 to a Dana 44 about 1973, may be what he's thinking about.

9" Rear

Yes they only came w/ 9" rears, and I think the bearing size did change. The original housing ends were called Big Ford Housing Ends, then in 1973 I believe they changed to New Style Ford Housing Ends. They have a different bolt pattern and stick-out dimension, so you need to make sure you have the correct axles and backing plates for your rear.

Yes, 9 inch only - 3 different sz axle bearings, the "big b." wuz in later yrs. I believe all the yokes were the same, 2 gear options, and 2 LS type options, Also later yrs trapizodial reinforcement to housing...(correct me if I'm wrong on any of this).

Willowbilly3, what's the issue with it? just a Q or do U need further info for a specific resto/mod/maintenance issue?
