Hello. My Ranger 2003 loses power while driving when I have a passenger with me. When I am alone it doesn't shut down but idles low. I have replaced ignition coil. Thanks for your help.
If you have a CEL lit, most autoparts stores will scan the computer for trouble codes at no cost. Then post All trouble code Numbers, as they can offer up good trouble shooting clues.
If no CEL lit, from the clue about it acting out with a passenger aboard, look to the fuel pump shut-off inertia switch electrical connector being loose. The inertia switch is located in the passenger side foot well, on the firewall just above the carpet. If its electrical connector is plugged in ok, maybe the inertia switch has developed high contact resistance thats dropping voltage to the fuel pump, so try thumping it to cause it to trip, such that its red button pops up, then reset it & see how it goes.
