Yeah that's not going to work. It almost appears you would have to remove the steel sleeve for it to work. I noticed the RS5000 and the OEM motorcrafts both don't have the steel sleeve in them on the top mount. I played with one shock for almost an hour until my arms were gave out from trying to mount it. It goes over the threads fine, but will not pass over the lip on the shock mount that the shocks rests on.
Good luck! Guess I'm not understanding the issue...
Im trying to picture what your talking about but cant.Maybe a pic will help. The rears took me about 5 min to install.I cant see how the steel sleeve is causing problems for you.
Called Rancho tech this morning and sure enough there is a batch of defective shocks that were manufactured with the wrong bushings. Back to Advanced they go for a credit. I hope to have the replacements next week. The top eye of the shock bushing should NOT have a steel sleeve in them per Rancho tech so if anyone orders some RS9000XL's for a F250 and the rear shock has a bushing with steel sleeve that mounts on the top post of the truck and won't fit over the tapered bolt that is affixed to the frame of the truck you just got yourself a defective shock. I will update everyone when I get my new correct made ones in.
And just so that everyone thinking of getting the 9000's, there are still some 999254's with the wrong size bushings out there. Apparently it looks like they got the top and bottom sizes reversed. I just got mine last week from truckaddons.com for 329 plus 100 mail in rebate from Rancho. Not a bad deal!
The fronts fit just fine though. Can hardly wait to try them out.
