My Explorer 99 works fine, after a few miles the O/D light starts to flash, it feels weird I stop turn off the engine wait a few seconds and start again works fine, then a few days after reverse started to act up, sometimes it worked and sometimes it doesn't, so I change the filter and reverse works fine, but the sudden o/d light flashy thingy stills appears some days, and some days it just works perfect, what do I need to do to fix this? Blown gasket I think it is not the problem since a new restart fixes the problem and some days it works flawlessly, Thanks in advance TURBO
Your best bet is probably to find a shop or friend with a professional scan tool that can access the transmission codes. The transmission diagnostic code should point you in the correct direction.

Thanks, I have a scanner, Innova Equus for all OBDII cars with live data, thought O/D light had nothing to do with the ECU, I'll give it a try. Thanks TURBO.
What codes do you think it might show up?

However I am in your corner..... Philip
Thanks, I'll give it try, I do know it has the KOEO and KOER test for ford, also has the manufacturer DTC's, I am more of an engine, emissions and A/C mechanic, I really hate. Trannys I always do the trannys with a coleege that specialices in auto trannies. All my clients when they have tranns problems I refer them to my friend. Thanks for your time and info Turbo
