i ordered a cam bearing set for my 300 six from summit racing the middle two bearings are thicker then the outers and my new cam wont slide through the journals in the middle, has anyone ordered bearings from them and run into this problem, or does anyone know of bearing sets that are the right ones, and have proven to be problem free
Are you certain it is not alignment of the journals? Did your machine shop check?
I had that problem with a block. I had to use fine emery cloth to 'sand' one of the bearings, and then the cam slid right in. Research revealed it's a common practice in factory.
If, however, you have measured the thickness of the bearings with a mich, and two have thicker walls than the others, then you have a problem with Summit. It has been my experience that Summit goes way out of its way to satisfy its customers.
yeah the bearings are deffinitly a little thicker and different part numbers too, the sealed power instructions said to use the two part numbers for 2 and 3 and the other two for 1 and 4, i need to call summit and check with what they know, and where i live there isnt a machine shop within 600 miles i bet haha, im on an island in southeast alaska.
thanks for the advice though
