hello everybody
i have the problem that my 1996 ranger 4x4 has a break problem.
when it comes to a stop it feels like one of the tires locks up, feel wired
any ideas?
i had the problem before i changed the front breakpads and it still continues.
air in the lines? abs module?
any ideas?
Is the seemingly locked up wheel in the front or back? Is either the brake or ABS light on?
When you replaced the front pads, did you notice either caliper sticking? Did you put lubricant on the calipers when you replaced the pads?

Feels like front I put lubricant on all movable parts. The calipers feel smooth and good no lights on at all but I also have ****ty tires washed out and wrong pressure was in them for a long time I try to get everything in good working order what the previous owner screwed up. Could it be the abs module itself?
If the ABS module is bad you should have the ABS warning light lit .If you have an advanced code scanner or can take the truck to someone who has such a scanner, check for any ABS codes.
You need to figure out what wheel is locking up before you start replacing parts. Then you can try to determine why, and what needs replacing. If you have ABS, pull the fuse and that will disable the system. The brakes will operate normally. It just eliminates the anti-lock system as the source.
Any signs that the brake master cylinder fluid level has been dropping??? If so, crawl underneath & look for wet signs of brake fluid from a leaking rear wheel cylinder or front caliper, leaking onto a drum or disc, as that will contaminate the pad/shoe friction material & cause a wheel to grab/lock up when the brakes are applied.
If you find this, put it right & replace both the left & right side pads/shoes, as the leaked on pads/shoes are contimanated & can't be cleaned for use.
More thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find.
