lil smokey it all has to do with your gears and tires i am running 3.42 gear rear end and 285/75/16's and what i have found out is another big help is a good spacer under your carb that helps with fuel atomization don't know if it helps to much more but ever since someone sabotaged my first 390 my carb gasket has a brass screen in it i put aluminum 4 bbl intakes on them (in the case of the 7 deuce picture top left) i have a 1" spacer and then a 4bbl to 2bbl adapter (adds about another 3/4") and a stock motorcraft 2 bbl and if i cruise her nicely down the highway i get 16-20mpg i once got an average of 22 driving to Arkansas city ks (about 70 miles) drafting a semi but if im hot rodding it around it gets 8-10 and if i pull a loaded trailer with 5 rick of wood (about 10,000lbs) i get about 6-8 i love my girls they keep proving themselves time and time again and that is why i love the FE motor family
