I have a 1990 Bronco V-8 5.0. It has a E4OD transmission in it. I'm wondering if a C6 will work or maybe an AOD. The E4OD's are so expensive and i don't have a lot of money at the time so i'm trying to save as much as possible. Also if anyone knows where i can get one for cheap, please let me know. Thanks.
I never dealt with them so do some homework: http://www.phoenixhardparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv
You could possibly downgrade to a C6, but it would have to have the small block bellhousing. The C6 is shorter. This would mean a new driveshaft and a modified crossmember. I would try to keep the E4OD if I were you. Other issues could be speedometer function shift & downshift linkage. It is not simple. I would like to go the other way. Swap my C6 for a E4OD.
