My 2003 escape xlt is making a noise from the back wheel whenever I hit the brakes. I checked the pads and they are both in good shape. I also cleaned everything with some brake cleaner thinking maybe it was a lot of brake dust.
Well that didnt solve my problem cause it still makes the noise. It sounds like a light squeeling noise as your hitting the brake and then when you almost come to a complete stop it, the sound goes to like a squeaky rubbbing of some kind. Only way I know of to describe it. Does anyone have a clue as to what I could look at? Also today when I cold started the truck a couple times while I was driving the engine seemed like it wasn't getting enough gas or something. Like it was hesitating a bit.after I kept driving it it went away and was fine. It rained pretty hard last night could something get wet under the hood that might cause this? It is the first time it has ever done this and only thing I can think of that might of caused it maybe.
Thanks in advance for your responses
Some brake pads have wear indicators. They are small metal tabs that are designed to rub on the rotor and make a squealing sound to alert the driver that the pads are wearing down. I have seen these wear indicators misaligned so that they hit the rotors when the pads were almost new.
