My ol chore truck with it strips and it has a touch of black pin stripping on the top and bottom of the "dent".
That scheme with red, yellow, Ford blue, copper as a overall base color or try 95 Dodge Dakota "drift wood", google it.
Looks grey, tan, silver, tanish gold, it all depends on the light.
Gunmetal is a favoriate of mine too.
yeah i like gunmetall, do you have stripes on the roof as well? if so could you take a overhead picture of it? like standing up on the bed? id appreciate it
No on the strips on the roof or tailgate, just the hood, cowl and to the bottom of the windshield.
Thanks, yea it was the one that got me back into these ol Fords again.
Good luck making up your mind, pic a overall base and run that for a bit then strip it later, maybe just the "dent stripe"?
Here is what I mean, in a lowered bad **** 2wd with the black out front and chrome fender trim painted black and a slicked back end, I'd drive it.
Yeah, i hear ya, i think i'm going to do it mysself over thanksgiving break (it's my DD so can't have it out of commission for very long) i've been looking on summitt for paint color ideas, and i am pretty sure i am going to do the grabber yellow base, with black striping, i think i'm going to do the racing stripes on the hood as well as the stripe on the "Dent" but don't quote me i have never painted before so could anybody run me through the process of doing it, as in primer, base, clear all that "The Steps" or is it inexpensive to get a shop to do it?
IMO trying to do it yourself, if you have never done it before, could make a bad day go worse. And it take a pro to fix it/ un do what you did if it goes bad (orange peel) and then redo it $$$
If its a rattle can wood hauler thats one thing, but I leave the big "you gotta know what you are doing or else" to the people that do that for a living....
You have to have knowledge, experiance and the right equipment.
Do you know around how much it'd cost to get somebody to do it? i aint looking for something i can see mysself in, just something that looks decent ya know?
MACCO and Earl Scheib says 99 bucks and for 150 they will wash it first JK lol.
I have a FTE guy that paints at car show lever he said with the very little body needed and going back to silver $1700 for my chore truck....
Phone book, call the local body shops, ask for references. Look at dealerships that farm out some work, those guys normaly have it going on quality wise.
Hit a local car how/cruise in with rodders and all and talk to them to get the local lowdown paint slingers #.
Parts stores have leads of them "off the beaten track, but he's a hell of a painter" guys. Gotta get in town and get to looking around, even after you find a guy, its still a rough decision.
Maybe the offer to help prep will help him and you get to learn something and save $ and down time on the DD.
i guess ill call maaco as they have a shop near me, and there's also a paint/body shop like 10 minutes from the house i'll go talk to, thanks everybody for all the help, and nice truck my dude!!
I was not recommending MACCO, just putting that out there. Unless they have gotten better over the years they were always just one step above a self done rattle can job.
