'03 S Crew trans. lines corroded
Got home from a long weekend trip and the wife and I took the truck to the store. it slipped once on me a few miles from home but had no more problems until going up the hill to my mother in law's. pulled over to let someone pass and it did it and then pulling down the drive way. got to flat ground and checked the fluid and of course it was low. got home put fluid in and drove up the road and back stopped to check fluid found a bad leak. hurried home and put it on ramps to find what looks like 2 really corroded lines( metal flaking off). they are on the pass side coming out from the bottom and crossing the core support. it started pouring down rain so i haven't been out to trace em back.
what kind of job and cost am i in for with this, and is this common on these trucks.
It has to be done.
Either get the lines from a dealer or make plans to make them from the correct size metal line with the bends in the right places and use new transmission fluid rated hose sections up front.
Try to save some stubs at the front radiator to connect to.
If you make the lines, put a 'minor' flares on the ends and double clamp each connection.
This prevent blowing the lines apart at a later date.
After this check the clamp tightness every so often to prevent leaks.
Good luck.
