sparkplug replacement?

Well hello everyone, first off let me tell you guys that i have just purchased my first expedition it is an 02 with 105,000 miles on it. I have heard horror stories about the sparkplugs and i just wanted to find out how many of you guys have changed out your own sparkplugs and how many problems did you run into, if any? is it normally a pretty straight forward plug change or did most of you guys have problems? TIA have a great day.

I just changed mine a couple weeks ago (5.4) and they are a PITA the first time around, but get better if you have to do it again. The biggest problem I ran into was having to move and work around all the crap on the driver's side. Cylinders 1-5 took me about 2 hours. Cylinder 6 took me about 3 hours because some plastic piece wedged itself at the bottom, preventing the socket from seating around the plug. Ended up having to take an old windshield wiper and use it to get the plastic piece out. Cylinders 7 and 8 took me about 3 hours until I broke down and popped off the fuel rail. Then another hour to change the plugs, bending one of the coil bolts in the process. Then another 2 hours trying to reinstall the fuel rail, failing, and spilling gas all over the driveway. Ended up calling a mechanic the next day to come out and see that the reason the fuel rail wouldn't go back on the injectors was that the o-rings were still in the rail.

So the first time it took me well over 10 hours of dehydration and misery to change them and I still needed help to get things back together. Yesterday I took all of the coils off, checked them all, and replaced most of them, and I only spent about 2 hours for the whole job.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you're being lazy and haven't bothered to try the search feature here yet!

SPARK PLUGS

I have written an extensive write up on replacing the plugs no the 5.4 engine.
Below is a link to my post on the subject.
