I media blasted mine and then sanded the lettering and cleared the whole deal. I am thinking of blasting it again and painting the emblem to match the rest of the X.
That Emblem is basically their business card that they hand out to everyone....
I remember my Dad trying to get the dealer to knock more off the price because of all the "advertising" on the vehicle. (Front emblem, rear emblem, dealer logo, ....)
I've actually started the process on my emblem. Two and a half year old truck and the emblem is chipping to all hell. I sanded down, primed and trying to decide on a new color scheme. I picked up an XLT ABS grill for pennies and going to paint it to match. So I'm thinking all white with pueblo gold lettering and striping.
Ok I have to ask this. Would you want a guy that gives you a cheep business
card and A+ work of gave you a 24k gold plated card and crappy work?
The Emblem sees a lot of harsh environment and gets hit with rocks. The
heavy clear coat is where mine started to go bad with chips. I don't see
that many that have been stolen by the little street rats. Think about this.
If it was a $$ item it would not stay on for long
And look it this way it is NOT made in China.

Thats close to the same colors of my X and the scheme I was thinking. I'd like to see some pics if you do this! I was also thinking with my white grill the backgound of the emblem might look better with in the gold color and white letters.
