turbo wiring

Hi does anyone know what the electrical connector is on the front of the turbo pedestal, looks like a solenoid. my plug is welded in and need to order a new one whilst the engine is out.

That will be the solenoid for the EBPV (Exhaust Back Pressure Valve)

If you end up going with a blank turbo pedestal and deleting the EBPV then you will need a 470 ohm 1 watt resistor to put on your electrical connector so you do not get Check engine light/code. I am deleting my valve and the actuator mostly to keep from having to pay 200$ to rebuild the EBPV actuator and to make sure I never have a oil leak from my actuator. I live in the southeast(GA) so I will never need the valve or actuator.

I used this 3 or 4 years ago when I was modding my factory turbo. I don't remember it being that expensive though.

I stand corrected. I would have to pay 98.99$ plus shipping to rebuild the actuator.(which would eventually leak again) The actuator is the piston that gets deleted from the pedestal when you put the van turbo pedestal in your truck. The 470 ohm 1 watt resistor is what connects to your connector plug after you replace the pedestal which will not have a place for the solenoid valve connection which happens to have about 470 ohms of resistance in the circuit.(Reason we need a 470 ohm 1 watt resistor. Can not use the 1/4 watt resistors from radio shack as they will burn up very quickly) These are two seperate items.

I only paid 13$ for 200 resistors from ebay. I figured I would give the other 199 resistors to riffraffdiesel.com and dieselorings.com so they can just put one in with the blank pedestal and the purchaser will not have to find and pay for an individual resistor. In bulk the resistor is about 0.07$ and my time with a soldering iron and some heat shrink from harbor freight might add an additional 1$ to the connector. Some people are not too savy with a soldering iron. I could not spend 38.50$ for a plug connector and a resistor with heat shrink. I am an electrician so that would go against every grain in my body. You could also just fold the metal wire on the resistor in half and push it into the connector on each pin and that would work. If you need a resistor please feel free to contact me via PM and I can send you one.
