Hey all, I have a 94 F150 2wd with a 302 and an auto that I believe is running rich. The inside of my tips are coated with soot. I have noticed a drop in MPG and my check engine light is NOT on. I am thinking about replaceing my O2 sensor, but I would like some input on other things to check. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance....
did you remove that cats? If so that can cause it to run rich as the computer doesn't get the porper signal from the o2 sensor. It could be anything from a vacuum leak to a bad o2 sensor.....
No codes. Tried KOEO and KOER. no codes just running rich. I had the front cat hollowed and the second cat replaced with one 3 inch high flow cat. I think I will replace the O2 sensor this weekend and check for leaks. She runs like a dream, just uses way too much gas.

After a quick check for liquid (gasoline) in the FPR vacuum line, Step 2 is a tune-up according to the instructions on the emissions sticker in the engine compartment.
Step 3 is to check each sensor in logical order (based on symptoms) with a digital multimeter according to the procedures in the Haynes manual. I'd start with the HEGO, TPS, MAP and then everything else.
