Thanks Richard. It gets me part of the way, for sure, because I can see the pin connector which is used for the speed controlled feature. However, I'm still not quite sure where I would make the comparable connection in my truck's wiring in order to have the vehicle speed signal make the radio volume adjustments. One thing, though, I do not have the premium head unit because there is no amplifier in my system, and the feature set for the radio doesn't match up with the features for the premium system.
The PO installed a Pioneer unit in my truck and I was amazed when I figured out the volume was compensating for speed, I had no idea Ford ever did that. It is time for a new head unit so this is one of the features I want to make sure I get in my new unit. Let us know how it turns out.
Will do, GonzoCSU. I hope to get this completed by Thanksgiving, but my weekends are really beginning to stack up... just found the cash to replace the front door on our house which will be a two-weekend job by itself. Regardless, having enjoyed the speed-controlled volume in another vehicle, I will be very glad to get that back because it is much more justifiable in our diesels than in a quieter gas engine vehicle (at least in my mind).
