5.4 performance/responsiveness question
Recently purchased a 2010 F150 for my son to drive. It's an Fx4 Supercrew, with the 5.4 motor. (has 90K miles)
truck is in great shape, it's been checked out thoroughly by my mechanic, and seems to run fine. However, it occasionally exhibits what i'd call a lack of responsiveness. coming out of a turn, or attempting a pass, it's almost like it's ignoring throttle input. you have to really poke it to get it to downshift. Other times it seems to be fine. It has power, but feels like the transmission, or the ECM is fighting me when i want it to get up an go.
Is this normal behavior for the 5.4?
if so, would a basic tuner (superschips / SCT, etc) wake it up a bit and make it more responsive?
Is there some other common issue with these motors/tranny's that might be going on?
The only mechanical issue it's had was a brief Check engine light. we pulled the codes and it was for the O2 sensor. It went away, and the mechanic said we can wait and address it when/if it returns, and it shouldn't be affecting performance.
thoughts?

I would address the O2...it maybe just a bit lazy in reponding ...which plays back to the Air to Fuel ratio....which end result is maybe lazy throttle reponse. It maybe that the tranny is sticking in a higher gear, not down shifting as well as it should...leaving it "feeling" boggy
yes a tunner will "wake" this up...I would go towards the better/higher end that can handle "future" affects/additions....bigger rims and tires, exhaust , shift points etc.
if your concerned about durabilty...then re-gear to 373 gears or 410 and response will improve very effectively
