I am working on a 2009 F250 for a friend, it has 12,000 miles but is out of warranty by time. It started running rough and low on power and he barely made it home. It will start sometimes but the engine knocks/rattles and has no power. I scanned the codes with a cheap scanner and it has several O2 sensor codes and a P052D intake camshaft over-retarded bank 2. I cleared the codes and now it won't start at all. I have seen that there are many problems with the CVT system and was wondering if anyone else has seen this problem.

The owner is a farmer and needs his truck ASAP and the closest dealer is 50 miles away.

Does anyone have any ideas? I have checked the fuel and it is good clean gas with no ethanol, we tried spaying it with starting fluid and no change. It will fire and try to run but just won't start. If it is cold it will run for a few seconds. I think it must be that the cam timing is off and keeping it from running. What can I do to check the cams? Would pulling the solenoid tell me anything?
