<hr style="color:#C8C8C8; background-color:#C8C8C8" size="1"> I'm on the verge of selling this thing. 95 f250 w/ 182k mi. having serious issues. Starting w/ one fuel guage failing then the other, then having back pressure when filling tank (would only fill about half way). Then it died on me and the dealer told me the switchover valve went. Shortly after that it would stall when on a decline or incline. Now it will start fine but will stall after a few minutes then I'll have to let it sit for a while or it won't start. Now since the gauges aren't working of course I ran one tank dry twice. Is it possible there's just sediment kicking up and that's why it's stalling? I'm at a loss and can't find anyone who's heard of such an issue. I really don't want to sell it but frankly I'm tired of putting my hands on it. Any suggestions for this issue is much appreciated. Thanks
sound to me like to might have some rust or dirt or even water in your fuel tank i would reccomend to remove the tank and either buy a new one or get a chain and some fresh gas and try to dump everything out of the tank and pour some new clean gas in it and the chain and swish it around the chain is to loosen up the gunk stuck to the tank so you can pour it out i had to do this in my 77 f100 custom i never would of thought all that dirt could get in there
Bonezuki, welcome to the site! We will help you get that thing straightened out again.
It may just be that the selector valve is bad. The valve switches the signal for the gauges as well as the feed and return lines for the tanks. PM me if you think you might need one. I have a couple of them that I could part with.
As far as the stalling goes, that almost sounds like the tanks are actually empty. You could always open them up and see what's inside, but I would start by replacing the selector valve. And believe it or not, if you do end up deciding to open up both fuel tanks, it is a ton easier to pull the bed and do it with them in place than it is to actually drop them both. 6 bolts and a couple wiring connectors and the bed lifts right off with the help of a friend or two.
Yeah, you probably haven't been a member long enough or have enough posts to send and receive PM's yet. Let me look around the shop some tomorrow or Monday and see what I can find.
The CPS was the running issue but I do still need a valve for the gauges to work. Were you able to dig one up by chance? I definately don't want to go thru the dealer for one. $370!
Yeah I found one, but there was someone else who spoke for it in the mean time. I haven't gotten a payment from him though. Let me see if he wants it or not. If not, I will let you know since you seem to be next in line, lol.
