So I am hopefully nearing the point where I start piecing together the new body fro my truck. I have all the major panels I need, (except a good pair of rear crew cab doors) but I need to order a couple bed side patches for the bed I am going to use. I know I can get them from LMC, but I am curious to hear from someone on here what kind of luck they have had with replacement panels from LMC and whether there may be a better place to source these parts. Price is a concern, as I am on a shoestring budget for this "Working restoration" but I am more concerned that the parts I spend my hard earned dollars on are good quality parts.
Thanks man, I appreciate it. I don't suppose it is a SRW truck with a good bed on it by chance is it? LOL. PM me once you see it on Monday and give me the scoop. Thanks!
I've never bought any body panels from LMC Nate, but just about any of the aftermarket panels I've used are lesser quality than OEM of course. I get stuff from a private owned parts store that I deal with a lot. He can have anything I need the next day. I have two sets of rear doors that are both manual windows, but as you probably know, those things are hard to find, and I'm not sure if I want to part with them. Don't mean to tease you!LOL!! I drove over 300 miles one way and paid $250 to get one rear door a couple years ago. If I would decide to sell one set, you'll be the first to know. I have a driver's side cab corner if you need it.
There has been a 97 150 box listed on SD craigslist for a while now, in rapid city. If it were closer, I'd have it already, just for the tailgate. I know its a ways for you Nate, but its 400 bucks in perfect shape with a roll up cover on it.
Morning guys. Thanks for the input. I never thought to check with year one. I might have to give them a shot. I may just keep shopping around for a bed, I don't know. This truck isn't going to be show quality anyway, but I might as well do the best job on it that I can, right!? am tempted to just buy the cheap patch panels from wherever to get me by until I can find a whole bed in good condition some place. Then again, I have some family in TN I haven't seen in a while, if I could locate a good one down that way at a scrap yard, I could make a short trip of it and stay a day or two there with them. Decisions, decisions...
