Am i correct in assuming that the gasket you are referring to is for the whole rectangle cover not the triangle valve cover? I look up the part number for the gasket, and doesn't look like the triangle. From what i gound online, there doesn't seem to be a gasket on the triangle valve cover. Is it safe to remove only those 3 screws and clean out the valve and the 2 holes as best i can?

Your playing with it. Just pull the 4-5 screws and take off cover. Your not going to clean it very well with cover 1/2 removed or 1/4 removed. Also get yourself a new sensor and change it while your there. Its only like $20 and easy to swap out. A bucket will catch the quart of fuel you'll get out. Its actually a very easy job. I use a cordless drill with correct bit and its a snap to pull the cover. The sensor is even easier to change. This is actually a very very easy project.
