I really dig the factory look on trucks of this vintage. Because of that i picked up a set of factory steel wheels that need to be refinished. Im undecided on the color they will be finished in so im trying to get some pictures of trucks with factory style steelies in various colors. The 4 colors im trying to decide between would be white, black or one of the two browns that my truck is covered in.
It's hard to say on a brown truck, really. For myself, I prefer white:
I believe the factory color is Wimbledon White, but that was really a little too tan when I was repainting my wheels, so I went to Oxford White. White is universal, it will probably look good on your truck, too.
Nothing is "wrong" with them, i just like painted steel wheels a bit better. Plus my plan is to pick up a set of 34x9.50 super swampers and the wheels i have now are much too wide to be able to mount them
As to original color, from what I have seen, if the truck came from the factory with dog dish hubcaps, the wheel was white. If the hubcaps were full wheel, then the wheel color was black, such that no white would be visible between the edge of the hubcap and the tire.
If the truck had the optional argent [silver] wagon wheels, the spare rim was painted argent, as well.
