The coolest thing.....
I get a phone call from a 321 area code that I don't recognize ... I usually don't answer calls if I don't know the number...
For some reason I answered it... It was a guy with "SuperChips"
He asked if I still have my EcoBoost, I said sure. He then went into telling me this story about how they found more HP and Torque
for the EcoBoost so they are in the process of updating the EcoBoost performance software for their line of performance tuners. He continued by telling me that SuperChips and Edge merged so SuperChips and Edge are all one company now going by the name of Powerteq and they are sharing tune info and products.
He asked me if I would be interested in bringing my truck in for some "FREE" Dyno testing so they can install a Cold air intake and run some Dyno pulls on my truck to update their programer software to work in conjunction with this new twin cone cold air intake they are going to be offering for the EcoBoost. They are doing package deals now...CAI and tuner for a flat fee with the tuner software preset for the cai.
I told him "Hell Yeah" When and Where?
So last Friday at 9am I went to Sanford, SuperChips Florida headquarters, to drop off my truck. Whoo Hoo!!!
Ken gave me a tour of the facility and showed me the Dyno chamber..which was really cool. We talked a little and he gave me their Dodge Charger to drive while they had my truck...
So what did I get out of the deal....Well, I got my truck back with a full tank of premium, a complete set of dyno sheets for before and after for MY truck, They gave me their Dodge Charger, full of fuel to drive until this afternoon when they returned my truck. I got to keep all the performance parts they installed on my truck, the Programer, Cold air intake and this cool new thing called Linq which allows me to see all the PID's in real time on any Android device with Vivid installed.
I've wanted a CAI and programmer since I bought my truck but life has a way of taking all my money so there is never any left to spend on stuff like that so this is a true blessing for me..
I got my truck back this afternoon and the Dyno sheets show an increase of 58 HP and 69 ft. lbs of torque "At the wheels" at 2800 revs. This increase pushed my little Ecoboost up over 400 hp and just under 600 lb ft of torque at 2800 revs.
They also rewrote when and how much boost is applied.... Fords software slowly applies boost from 1800 revs and peaks it at 12psi at 3000 revs.... SuperChips has the boost start at just above idle and peaks it at 14psi at 2800 revs.... This means there is now full boost much earlier and throughout the entire power band.
It was an awesome experiance and although my truck wasn't a slouch before....it is definetly now a beast.
Oh yeah and I wanna add....Now you can really hear the turbo's spool up.... It has a really loud turbo whistle now!!!
I wanna thank Ken at Superchips for this awesome opportunity... HUGE IMPROVEMENT!!!!!!
Here's a couple pictures of the things they installed.

The "H" design is supposed to equalize the intake air to both turbo's. At least that's the way I understand it.
but i'd bet it is going to be very hard to see an increase in milege. with 400hp and 600ft-lbs torque on tap there is no possible way to stay out of it!!
heck, my mileage usually drops after installing a muffler ... like the sound too much

nice score!
I did a little research...it looks like Edge Products was bought by MSD in early 2011 (Didn't know that!) and they are working to combine the SuperChips line and the Edge line into one...just like FX2Crazy said. Pretty interesting stuff.

Very cool anyway!!

I also am on the side that says if you are always in boost you are going to lose gas milage.
Looks like the Ecoboost V6 has got some serious potential in it way beyond what we're seeing here. I'm very interested to see what happens when engine shops start playing with the Ecoboost.
