Just changed out my lockers tonight, and the drivers side went in with ease. now the passenger side was a little harder, could never get the spindle to come all the way thru to get the split ring in. is this ok for now? Or do i need to keep trying to get it on.. It locks in 4 so it is doing its job but don't want to tear it up.
Those snap rings always give me trouble too. I usually have to pry the stub shaft into the knuckle while putting on the ring. Thats worked for me everytime
Carefully pry the stub out. Just had to do that on my brothers D44. depending on what ring it is, the whole locking unit may fall out, so I really wouldn't drive it. A least it's an easy fix.

A high idle can be darn near anything. Put a dwell tach on her and find out some numbers, and is it a steady idle? (if so, check for a vac leak, with a vac pump if you can. don't forget the PCV valve)
