E4OD 1990 help
truck is or i mean tranny is unlocking in 1st then slams back into gear. no problems in 2nd. 3rd gear constitly unlocks then locks. In overdrive its almost like its surging like it thinks about unlocking the tc but dosent do it. Would like the help have been throwing parts at it, not a tranny guy im about to just pull out the IDI 7.3 infront and scrap it please help thank you..... One more thing if this helps, at higher speeds there is a vibration right underneth my seat, is this the tc takin a ****?

The torque converter should NOT lock at all in first gear, unless you have your right foot all the way on the floor.
The firt thing to check is the fluid level. Too low or too high will cause problems. If the level is right then the problem is most likely bad information from a sensor. Running self test will often show a code that will help towards finding the problem.

when ur in first it will pop out of gear i guess and then lock back in, if you say it dosent lock unless wot then its popping out of gear, ive replaced the tps and adjusted to spec, new vss, new mlps, new speed control sensor, the external plug was all burnt up so removed back external plug and intalled a new one. am i missing anything i should of checked

hi again, i finally found the problem, the ground for the transmission computer was very loose and also the plastic gear in the transfer case was bad which was causing the eratic shifts, found the ground and fixxed it, still had some goofy shifts in 2 to 3, so i unpluged the vss on the transfer case and it went into safe mode but shifted right, got gear replaced all fine now, going to do a fluid change this coming week just so its clean.
