97 F1-150 starter problem
1997 f1-150 v6 4.2l
Here is my problem. The truck was running great. I went to turn the truck on and it cranked halfway then quit. Now all I get is a click when I turn key.
I had friend look at it and he checked the started with a volt meter and said it seemed fine. We focused our attention to the starter solenoid. We can arc the two big lower terminals and the truck cranks. I have done this 2-3 times now to get the truck from point to point b. I replaced the starter solenoid and still same problem. Also cleaned all those connections as well as the battery terminals.
It is currently at a local shop and they are saying that they think it's the starter relay. I though the starter relay was actually the solenoid itself... Or is 2 different parts here?
Anyways the shop as pulled every diagram they have access to and none of them specify which relay is actually the starter relay. (makes me think the relay is the solenoid.
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. I own a business and we are having our biggest year, however this our only work truck. So business is closed until i get this truck running.
Thanks
