head work

Well...I managed to knick one of my intake seats slightly when I was porting my heads (C4AE). Is there any way I can fix this without having the machine shop try to get hundreds of dollars out of me? Also, one of the exhaust seats has a sealing surface that appears to be uneven, thick on one side, thin on the other. The guy I bought the heads from said he ran them for 40k miles after he had the hardened seats installed...so is this not a problem? I asked the guy at the local machine shop ( he was wearing sweat pants and had drool coming out of his mouth ) and he said the uneven seat surface may be due to a warn valve guide. The seat with the uneven wear also has a replacement valve guide that cracked the nipple where it comes out at the top by the valve spring ( is this common ) Dinosaurfan? Anybody?

Don't know about the rest, but my rebuilt heads have several nipple cracks and some have a chunk or two missing from the top where the guide is. Doesn't seem to affect them at all.

Time for guides and seats! Not the time to save a few bucks and risk loosing a seat.
