Hi, I have a 1993 F-250 5.8L that does not have a emissions system hooked up. I need to go for emissions next month and I am wondering if I could run a hose from the smog pump to the AIR injection tubes with a check vavle on the two tubes. My question is would I pass emissions with just the AIR injection tubes hooked up and none of the other emissions stuff??
I still have the one cat on the truck. I have all of the parts, I believe, for the emissions system in my garage. They were taken off by the previous owner because he tried to do a smog pump delete and didnt do it correctly. Now I just wanted to see if I i could just hook up the smog pump to the air injection tubes and not waste my time trying to put the whole emissions system back on. I am just wondering if that will push enough air through the exhaust to lower the CO and HC levels while idling.
Worth a try. Be sure to set the ignition timing where they want it for smog, maybe a little fuel additive, fresh oil change, pcv working right. Those will help with NO and HC.
I will definitely check the ignition timing. I will also check the other things too. They sell a emissions additive you add to your fuel and it is a guarantee pass and I will probably try that as well.
