engine smoking
I have a 2000 7.3L f250 superduty. after rebuild and a yr now have engine smokes when you rev the engine and an imbalance on No1 cylinder causing injector to carbon up poss from prev misfires due to injector harness now solved? found the turbo exhaust outlet pipe leaking oil we think because the wrong size clamp fitted. will fit new clamp tomorrow but if this does not solve problem what next? this has now cost thousands and still having problems, can anyone please help as i have run out of ideas.

this problem started with engine making a horrible noise. had engine taken out and rebuilt as advised as no codes, when put back in mechanics broke alot of components not knowing what they were doing, eventually moved to someone else changed injector module then found wiring harness problems, this keeps returning because of the bad design of plugs then this turbo issue. will have to check oil in exhaust but i'm no mechanic. theres alot of oil in the exhaust outlet of turbo does this mean a seal has gone?

If you mean in the intercooler tubes, and you haven't done the doghouse mod, then a little oil in the tubes is normal. If it is leaking past the boots then the boots are not clamped down enough and you are leaking the little bit of oil from there as well as you would be leaking boost pressure and this will cause a low power engine.

as you look at turbo from the top, on the back left hand side theres a pipe exiting the turbo which goes down the back of the left hand rocker cover, the oil is leaking from the clamp on this pipe. just got a new clamp to fit but don't want to run and cause more damage if this is a problem.

OK Not what I was thinking.
What color is the smoke? Blueish - White - black?
Do you see any fuel in your coolant?
Have you checked your UVCH? By the sound of the mechs breaking stuff, could be they didn't closely check the UVCH and it is disconnecting. But this would throw a code.

If you have an imbalance on cylinder 1 accompanying this I would personally at least do a quick blow by check by flipping the oil fill cap over and seeing if it will sit atop the oil fill neck without pressure blowing it off. It could just be injector or wiring related but also being accompanied by the smoke and oil you describe you could have a bad hole. A compression test would help verify this as well.
If it's just a turbo issue, check the play at the compressor wheel, try to push it in and out(there should be no play) also check up and down/side to side, make sure the wheel is not contacting the housing. The turbo can be rebuilt relatively cheaply/easily if your issue is with the turbo.

thanks for that. recently i've had misfire problems on both sides which we think was the uvch wiring mainly the No1 injector which has carboned up the injector and sleeve. may still have problems with this and then this smoking and oil leak from turbofeels like theres more than one issue hear but will try these suggestions.

Did you put a new UVCH harness on your truck?
To keep your mind at ease, it may be best to pull the valve covers off and re-torque your rocker arms and injectors.
