i haven't been able to in a long while ... PROGRESS !!!!!!!!! yippee !!!!!!!! monday am i am sending the cab , doors , and hood off to the body shop for repairs , and minor customization !! the hood getting damaged has set my course , which is something i was wanting to do but didn't want to as she is / was a survivor if you will . the cab is going to get the cab corners , all 4 repaired , the cowl and roof seems filled , the cowl vent filled the louvres filled in the right front cab corner / cowl , and the hood is getting the peek removed , and the antenna hole filled in and all emblem holes filled in . then it will all be put in primer and brought back home till i get all four new fenders bought , the new bed , and the smoothie running boards , then back for prep and it'll be jade green metallic again ! i got the 52 in the air working on fixing my clutch issue and as soon as its done the frame goes back in the middle so i can complete the suspension , brakes ets , and get it into roller status . i'm torn about ny driveline as i want to completely , and damn the torpedoes , go through my flatty with an eye towards the hot in hot rod .... but i began taking the 292 i got from stu apart further and she's in pretty good shape ,,,,, it's a 58-59 hd truck / industrial engine with low comp heads and a trashed valvetrain i.e. bent pushrods , and most likely lifters and cam issues . i have ecg-z heads from another y i had that are reman's from a hot 57 bird project that went awry of a friends some time ago , dual valvesprings , 3 angle valve job ..... or i got two 4.6's , but the electronics scare the beejeezuz outta me and they really don't fill my desire for the old school power trains i know and love . so i think i'm gonna tweak the 292 with a new hotter valve train , a 4bbl intake and carb , headers and slap it into her and drive it till i get the mucho pricey flatty done and thenput her back in her throne room ..... it's damn nice for positive things to finally happen again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to hear that word -- progress! I'd be leery of running a flat-tappet cam that required heavy valve springs with the oil that's out there today. (the TBird heads)
Did you ever figure out what the clutch problem is on the '52?
Glad to hear you're making progress, Kevin. Wish I was making better progress, but the machine shop hasn't touched my 215 yet. I'm practicing being patient. And glad that old p.o.s. 292 can be saved. Judging by the shape of the M.H. I pulled it out of, it really got kicked hard. Stu
the valvetrain as i said stu is wiped but beyond that .... ross the heads were on another y i had and the dual springs were removed and a set of singles put on . and yep everything is returning to somewhat normal . the black hole is full 'o' chiete , tools laying everywhere as i'm working on two or three things at once , got a couple of engines laying around to trip over , and i still gotta go get that 00 vic to rip apart for parts from my unk's tow lot when he gets the salvage title , and got too work on the bird outside as i can't get it inside , i smell like old ford despite numerous showers ..... LOL !!!!!!!!!! and as far as the clutch the pressure plate springs are a little weak , but of all things the clutch fork has a pin i guess thats 'sposed to pivot on that is either broken off partially or missing as i can move that thing around up , down , sideways , inside out just looking at it . i'd be willing to guess that's my biggest noise culprit . been trying to find a good pic of the clutch fork assembly so i can see whats 'sposed to be there .......... yep it's normal , i don't have a d^@# clue what i'm doing or what i was working on ..........
congress / white house / any branch of government = cluster f*@^ run by lame idgits ! so essentially yer garage is a place to avoid ........... thought i might make some progress today guys , but i forgot i got company .... my 4 year old granddaughter will be here with me . oh well the body and parts get delivered and i'll just put teegan out back with mallethead and .......................
