Found this beauty this weekend........it is a 78 f100 auto short bed. Hardly any rust on the frame and most of the body......it has a 302 that has been rebuilt. I went and DROVE it yesterday and it cranked right up first time!! WHAT WOULD YOU PAY FOR THIS BEAUTY?? Looking at maybe buying it tomorrow so looking for some serious and fast responses........
payed 2grand for mine. 4wd,standard tranny, 410stroker.74000miles.
had 2rust holes on the body, ima second owner too.
bought it in colorado from a pretty upscale neighborhood.
location is key, hear in ND they are asking around 5grand for most dents
missing some trim and the bumper needs replaced. also i would take the tailgate protector off and see if thats why its there or already dented. whats the inside like? door panels broken dash cracked **** and switches all work. like its been said before its only woth what you want to pay for it but little things can talk a guy down fast.
Obviously needs paint but what caught my eye was the plastic tool box. I am not a fan of tool boxes but could he have not found 1 any cheaper? Makes me wonder about how money was spent on the rest of the truck. Providing I found no serious problems my ceiling would be $1200. I would be trying for $750 with hopes of settling in around $800-$850. This is assuming the interior is in decent condition. A "rebuilt" 302 could mean anything. Without receipts the engine has never been touched. You would be surprised how many people call replacing the gaskets a rebuilt engine.
Aftermarket wheels, front bumper damaged beyond repair, grille panel tweaked. Dent adjacent to fuel filler door.
Missing Race Track connector moulding on the right side. The upper right Race Track moulding is damaged, will have to be replaced.
Paint very thin on hood and roof, both were repainted years ago. If there's a bed liner or bed mat, REMOVE it, examine bed floor for rust.
Member recently removed bed liner, posted pics. The bed is so badly rusted out, it resembles Swiss Cheese.
Do NOT believe a single word the seller claims! Private sellers lie just like used/new car dealers, lawyers, politicians and TV evangelists.
Do not believe the miles shown on the odometer. The odometers of these trucks read to 99,999.9, then return to ZERO.
IF the seller claims engine and etc has been rebuilt, ask to see the receipts for the parts and labor.
No receipts? PASS!
The economy stinks and it's not going to get much better anytime soon. These trucks are not rare or highly desireable except to a few. So, it's only worth what people are willing to pay for it.
800 to 1500? man where are you guys at!!! ineed to make a road tripp i think! thes old trucks are goin for a small fortune up hear, i havent seen any for less than 2000, and that was a rust bucket! that would fetch an easy 3grand up hear, probly more.

I would say $1000-$1200. Don't worry about the trim pieces. I have "most" of the damaged trim pieces you are welcome to. I also have a front bumper without any dents I'd sell very cheap if you want it too. Good luck, but if you buy it, you owe me a ride.
