I recently researched all of this with my clutch failure (if you can call 199,000 miles a failure) and again with my trans going bad. My 94 had the 11" from the factory, and all the parts lookups showed that this should be the case, however, if indeed you have the 10", the 11 should bolt right in. Just get the whole kit. I picked mine up at Advance Auto parts for about $175. Auto zone had them cheaper, but was out of stock on the 11". If you want a premium brand, I'd get a Borg & Beck, which can be ordered online as well as at many "real" auto parts houses. Just tell them your truck has the 11. Oh, and have fun with that damn integral bellhousing tranny while you're under there!
Luk also offers a Pro Gold series clutch (heavy duty line) which will be the 11" clutch but will have a higher clamp load than the stock 11" cover and it utilizes high temp linings on the disc to help resist clutch failures due to excessive heat. This Pro Gold clutch was designed for customers who either tow alot or do alot of 4wheelin. I deal with several large fleets and the only clutch they will install is the Pro Gold.
I've heard a lot of stories about excessive vibration when converting from a stock installed 10" clutch up to an 11" clutch. any light that can be shed on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
As long as you surface the flywheel and use a good quality clutch you will not have any vibration. Someone must have either used an off brand clutch that was out of balance or had a bad flywheel.
