I know a lot of people that think most oil additives are bunk, but I've become a believer in Prolong from Golden West Lubricants. I contains no solids or PTFE that can clog filters or oil ports and soaks into the metal to give a permanent layer of lubrication. I used it in my '88 7.3 and noticed an immediate reduction in engine noise and easier starts.
I decided to add it to my 6.0 after the last oil change and it did the same thing. The engine is noticeably quieter and it starts in 1/2 the time it used to. Only thing I can imagine is the coated metal spins easier allowing the HPOP to spin faster and build pressure.
I can't swear to any other benefits in my 6.0 just yet. I'm hoping for injector protection and lower EOT when loaded but won't know that until my next hotshot run. I'll keep you updated.
