i hate to put up a title like that but i might need some help from anyone who can do it. i have just installed my shock absorbers on my f-350 dually. now, i have brand new coil springs for the front end. i will need a coil spring compression kit so that i can install the springs and be done with it.
the coil springs are about 2 inches longer than the stock ones and they're bout an inch in thickness. they're Bilsteins.
anyone got the compressor that i can borrow or somebody who's got the time to help me out? i'm in the houston area, and i'm willing to drive out if it's not too far out from where i'm at. i'm trying to keep it within about 30 miles from houston.
or if anyone knows a decent mechanic who knows how to do it, has the spring compressor to handle this, and is not too expensive, please reply back here or y'all can email me snuggyworm@att.net
No worries, parker. Latest update: Texas chain ring recommended a mechanic from tommie vaughn Ford n he's gonna do it for me for $120. Tats the lowest so far. I'm inclined to go with him.
Jay, napa didn't have it too. Dang.
Shorebird, tat sounds interesting. Let me check it out.
I'm surprised none of the parts stores have a spring compressor in their rental fleet. The 6.0 doesn't have a shock through the middle of the spring does it? The McPherson strut type set up is the only place I've ever needed a spring compressor.
I added a 2" leveling block under the coil springs of my 02 without having to fool with a spring compressor.
my coil spring is at least 3/4 inch to 1 inch thick. they are bilsteins. they're also about 2 inches longer than the stock ones. they're kind of like a leveling kit. not entirely, but they do try to lift the front end by about an inch or so.
here's the link to how it looks generally so y'all can have a rough idea of whatever i'm dealing with here. the frustrating part is that i can pop out the old coil springs but i can't get the new ones in without compressing them. dammit.
so far, i've found Greenfield Collision Center over by Kuykendahl and fm 1960 who are willing to do it for me for the same price as Texas Chain Ring's mechanic friend.
they just came out and said $120. sold. when? next wednesday. when their mechanic comes back from the doctor's. wow. a little too much time at the doctor's but i'd rather someone be at 100% when they're doing my springs. after all, they're a loaded gun waiting to go off. one wrong move and i might even be a head shorter. lol.
