as a rule we dont wash cars for a living hopefully we fix them. sorry but if you want things cleaned then please let the advisor know so we the tech knwo to add cleaning time to the estimate. we are paid to only clean sealing areas. all else is extra labor.
a break down for you on the $1000 is simple. 2 hours diag. 4 hours per a side to replace anf the part. this is just an avarge of times I have seen from shop to shop.
cheezit - I am not complaining about the cost, though it think its a little high. Also, I was saying about wiping down the surrounding dirty ares to prevent contamination intern to the engine. I wasnt expecting a full washdown.
Changing gears here--- I just talked to the service manager who stated that they have found a high pressure oil issue causing the no-start condition.
I assume it was a standpipe (the High Press Oil LEAK) on the same side as the bad injector
you should of replaced the standpipe and dummey plug on the side with bad injector
being an 05 they had issues with HPO System so basicaly you have a ticking time BOMB here Ultimatly you will at some point have issues with STC Fitting and Standpipes and Dummey Plugs
When getting an inject replaced its always a GREAT Idea to have Standpipes and Dummey Plugs replaced at least on the side thats getting the injector changed BECAUSE they both go to the HPO Rail that sits on top the injector
So when changing an injector there is very little Labor to get those changed cuz they had to Remove the same amount of stuff to get at rthe injector
If you only would have posted before the injector work was done we could have give you the heads up
The STC Fitting sits attached to the HPO Pump so it dont matter you wouldnt save any money changing that during injector work
These parts have all been updated and Originals Fail Often so be good to think of a plan of attack going
After a heated talk with the service manager the truck is still at the dealership. He told me that it was either the IPR~$1K or HPOP ~$2k!?!? I know about the fitting, but he didnt mention either. Also, he said that anything they touched could not have cause the issue?!?! Basically after goind back and forth I told them to leave the truck alone and I'll get it towed out of there. He then said he would tear down what he did for the injector work free of charge even though he was 100% sure that it is all correct?
I am very aggravated about his new quotes, and how he didnt say anything about the fitting and how he said nothing he touched could cause low High pressure oil?! Also, I asked about the updated standpipe etc, and he said why would he change an $1800 part!?!? Thats when i said I'm getting it out of there....
Basically now the truck is still there getting torn down to the injectors to verify all their work right now... I'm not expecting any miracles though.....

well, it doesn't sound like it is going to go well....
generic observation.... you are coming across in
print pretty strident and condemning. it might
be in your best interest to back it off a couple
clicks...
i'm fairly honest, and if someone accused me of cheating
them by not doing work i was paid to do, that would end
any further interaction with them. i'd plug in a scanner,
show them that the codes being shown had nothing to do
with the injectors i had been paid to replace, and that there
were no injector related issues, explain that whatever problems
they had could be solved by someone else, and say that they
have three days to remove their vehicle before storage charges
begin.
I agree with dialing back the accusations, calling people liars is a good way to make sure you never have a positive interaction ever again....
But if the guy truly did say "nothing I touched could cause low High pressure oil" then he's just flat out wrong. To replace an injector you have to pull the oil rail, and insta-presto you just disturbed almost a dozen o-rings and being careless in reassembly COULD cause an HPO leak. And if he really did say that standpipes and dummy plugs cost $1800... he's already on a different page in the wrong book, and might just be ignorant of what he's talking about.
I'm a little confused at what i am accusing the dealership of?
Anyway, they called and said that everything that they have done is fine. I will get the truck out of there tonight and get it to another diesel mechanic i recently became aware of one who works primarily on the 6.0 motors in my area.... Lets hope that he doesnt find something wrong with something they did....
Wasn't the whole point of this thread you claiming to have gotten ripped off by the dealer not actually replacing the #6 injector that you paid for? Heck, you titled it "install rip off", and that implies that you were accusing them of well... ripping you off.
Then once you talked to them again you found out that they'd actually done the #2 instead of the nothing you were worried about, and then the HPO stuff happened.
