ques for the welders here
ive finally got my cowl patch panel beaten into submission that looks halfway decent my question is were i cut the old spot welds off how big of hole should i drill in the patch panel to mig weld to the truck im planing on spacing the holes the same distance apart as the factory spot welds thanx

If you trying to duplicate the spot weld appearence drill the holes one size smaller than the original welds. P.S. I never could get them to look just right and ended up filling them completely and smoothing them out with the grinder.

I did alot of this type welding when I built my new bed. I drilled 5/16" holes then once I got the nack I would just start the weld at the 12 o clock position and swing around counter clock wise and as I approached 12 again I would swirl into the middle of the hole and end there. Would then have minimul grinding to finish it off.
