I just bought some Dynomax longtubes. will I need to get a chip if I install these or will my truck adjust automatically....or doesn't it matter? I do realize that mods will have to be made for the o2 sensor, but my concern is the truck's computer. Will it adjust what it needs to to account for the headers?? Thanks for any thoughts
is it a mass air truck or speed density? Mass air will be no prob at all, if it is speed density, I am not sure, but I don't think it will be a prob either. I have done more extensive exhaust work than just headers to speed density trucks before, and had no probs. But I have also heard that a check engine light stays on after headers were installed. So I would do it either way. Hopefully some one with more speed density experience than me will chime in. Good luck, let us know how it works....Hippie.
It's mass air but it look like i'm ok either way. Thanks for your comments. So i guess if i move the air intake from it's current spot between the radiator and the hood and move so the hose is mounted right in the grille that will cause prob's huh?? Good to know. Now if i can figure out the o2 sensor prob it looks like im good to go. Thanks again. You guys are great. Mike
moving air intake will be no prob. I made many changes including cam, heads, modified maf meter, and k&n that let the truck still run with little prob's. If you don't go with a "big" cam and head change, your comp will adjust itself to just about anything else you do. Good luck with it.. Hippie.
