i have dual tanks and it has run just horrible, no power, spudders like it is starving for fuel, i always keep it on the back tank b.c when it is on the front tank, it drains into my rear, but the other day i put some gas in the front and when i drove on it, it doubled the power. it really got some a**. i got my injectors cleaned at school and the teacher checked the fuel pressure too and he said that it was good.
i belive the my rear pump is bad, i think that it does ok at idle but when i take off, the pressure goes down but is is just an assumption.
Also i have heard that if on pumps drains into another then the pump it is draining to is bad but it wasn't too smart of a guy that told me that so i am not sure.
just tell me what you think before i spent the 130 bucks on the pump
check for recalls on your truck, the crossflow problem should be one of them. The replaced parts were fuel pressure regulator, check valves and fuel pump/sender assembly.Check with the dealer to see if your truck could still be covered under the recall
That all depends on what year truck you have. If it's still a 3 pump system its most likely in the selector valve if its a 2 pump system then its like steve83 said
ok, i did a little research and found the recall mentioned above. i went to the dealer and asked them about it and they told me to check back in a few days. that made me mad so i came home and did a little more research and got a number to call and they said my truck does apply for the recall,
so my new question is will they replace the whole pump or just the valve? and if they fix the valve will that help with my power loss problem?
I have a problem with my 95 f150 4X4. When I switch to the rear tank the truck dies immediately. When I switch to the front runs great.
I had a bad rear pump diagnosis from the Ford and he did not mention a recall. Do you have the number so that I can give them a call. They wanted $350 for the repair and I bought the pump for $130. Not too late to return it.
The recall will only place check valves in a good fuel system to stop the flow back. If your fuel pump is bad, you will still have the cross flow problem. Your truck sounds just like mine. Except I knew my front pump was bad. I replaced it and no more problems. Good luck.
