So I am sitting here at the shop to get my truck inspected and some damn kid goes to get my truck to pull it into the bay. Gets in, and can't start it, then when he does, he rides the granny gear like its an automatic. Sounded like he had it revved up to 4500 rpm's. It kills me to have somebody else even drive my truck, but to see somebody do that? Ahhhh.
I hate people that work in shops and can't drive stick. Or they can but drive it like they stole it. Just 1st gear and give it a little gas, u will get there!
Had the same thing happen at a shop right after i bought my truck (back when i still took vehicles to shops lol!) Since then i insist on driving it whenever i have to take it somewhere
I never let any of those yahoos drive my stuff. The place that I usually buy tires always has a fresh batch of them every time I go there, so I drive my own vehicle in, and stand beside them while they do my tires. It's gotta drive them nuts, but if they don't like it I'll go somewhere else........and I've told them that! LOL!
Gotta love it when they put it in first and rev it way up just to take off. I have to tell them it isnt a Honda. If you want to rev it up like that, start out in 2nd. I always get the deer in the headlights stare followed by...you can do that?

I think that's what I will be doing from now on, it was just ridiculous. I went running out of the waiting room screaming at him to change gears and the guy looked at me like I was speaking martian.

Sam, I'm telling you it was heart wrenching to hear it, I hardly ever get above 24-2500 rpm's unless I'm towing. And yeah, most kids these days don't know you don't always have to start in first.

Glenn, I went and talked to the owner the next day, it turns out the kid was his son (17 years old) and basically told me he didn't care. I asked him if he is only 17, how is he certified to do State Inspections? At that point, he told me to leave and started calling for his 'mechanics' to make sure I got off the property okay. Complaint lodged with the State, County and BBB (still considering calling Immigration and Customs Enforcement too). I'll let them sort it out.

Regrettably, yes we do, and yet we still have one of the higher State Fuel Tax's as well. For all her bad, Texas is still number 1 to me though, although I have been thinking of moving to the Tennessee/Georgia/Kentucky area.
Hey neighbors!
lol
just noticed all 3 of you are from IN.
Im in IL. Drive quite a bit through IN since my family is in OH and i used to go to school there.
Ya i think im only bout an hour from joseph. And im pretty close to the il. line. My grandparents live in flora il so i go over there every now and then. I was over by lawrenceville last weekend getting hay. Back to the subject im glad we dont have to do inspections.
This is why I do all my own work on my truck. I have a couple of really good mechs, one of them has 2 boys and they are good friends with me. I've been working on their derby cars with them. So that mech will work on my truck, but it is more like he will tell me what I need to do and then I can ask questions. I'm gonna learn sandblasting and a motor rebuild here in a week or so. It works good for them because they get free labor and it works great for me because I learn a new skill.
