Here is BP's response to its out of spec fuel & in the FAQ section what they recommend to rectify any hard starting, ect cause by the excessive polymers added at the refinery.

Alkylation converts refinery waste streams into high octane gasoline. Aviation gasoline is mostly alkylate.

Seems they had a problem only at this one refinery & was caught fairly quickly, but did cause some folks problems with fuel injector & plug deposits, but with a, tow, fuel & gararge diagnosis/reciept for repair, they would reimburse. Wonder how many folks actually had problems????
