Any suggestions on fixing a squeaking tailgate? I've isolated the squeak to the bracket on the middle right side of the tailgate and on the rear of the bed that alligns the tailgate or keeps it centered. There is metal to metal contact and I've tried lubing both pieces with everything with no success in stopping the squeak. I've also tried adjusting the bracket to center the "tongue" (on the tailgate) with the "groove" on the rear of the bed, but after a short drive it will start rubbing again which in turn causes squeaking again.
This squeak drives me crazy when I have the rear slider open as I can hear it up to 55 mph.
Anybody have a different approach to silencing this damn squeak?
It goes away after a few months. I think it's only loud on a fairly new truck. I used to spray wd40 on the rubber parts, it helped. There are some rubber triangle shaped wedges in there.
So your truck has 114k on it, did the tailgate stop squeaking at 113k? Obviously my truck is older than "a few months" and it's still squeaking.
As I stated previously, I've isolated the squeak to metal to metal contact between the bracket in the center right side of the bottom of the tailgate and the bracket that it fits into on the rear of the truck and am looking for suggestions (other than lube) on how to remedy the squeak.
Easy killer, you're the one that started the snarky pissing contest.
If you read my post, I stated that some lube on the rubber parts helped my squeak, take it or leave it but don't get angry with me for giving you my opinion on something that I also dealt with.
And yes, posting up a statement "my truck has 30k on it" and nothing more is snarky. How does that benefit anyone? You could have said "well my truck has 30k on it, I wonder how long it lasts, maybe it's an age issue and not a mileage issue.

The purpose of posting that my truck has 30k on it was simply to let anyone (I'm sorry that you thought it was my intention to be a smartass) know that the truck was older than a few months old, this was my ONLY intention.
I'm sorry you took it the wrong way; it is sometimes hard to judge one's "tone" when reading posts.
As far as lubing the rubber parts, I'm glad that worked for you, but as I stated, I've isolated the squeak to metal to metal contact. I'll take a pic and post it so everyone can see what I'm talking about b/c I realize my explanation is not the best...
