Ok here we go. The other day I had my truck parked down hill running for about 10 mins "nose down". It started stuttering real bad so I shut it off. I got in neutral and just let it roll down the hill, so I could restart it. It only had a 1/8 thank of fuel and why it was on the hill it showed empty. I went and refueled quickly, and it ran bad all the way to the fuel station.
Got back and it started to smooth out, but had a little smoke when you would rev it up some, but none while Idling. I put my sct on it to see if there was any DTC's and sure enough there was. 1) po266 #2 cyl contribution. 2) po284 cyl #8 contribution. I cleared them, and they have not come back, and the truck runs fine just a little smoke when you you get on it. I'm running a sct canned tuned 120 h.p. is the normal condition for running out of fuel. Also before I started it back up i cycle the key a few times to make sure it was purged.
Well It runs fine now that I got fuel, but it still had the codes. I then cleared them. I was just wondering if that was normal to get them codes if you run out of fuel, and what the codes actually mean. Not real black kinda grey black. I just hope I didnt kill my injectors.
My egr is disabled, because I deleted my egr cooler, I never really noticed the smoke before, but then again I really never looked. I justed noticed a faint haze in the garage when I would rev it a few times, nothing over bearing, just a little haze going out the garage door. I'm just a little gun shy right now because I dropped all that money into it a couple months ago.
