Lightbulb crew cab conversion

If I can shorten a super cab frame to accomodate a crew cab and short box, would it be possible to extend an F-150 regular cab frame to fit a crew cab short box???? I currently own a restored F-150 regular cab long box. I have also located a 77 crew cab long box in excellent condition. Would this be a decent parts truck for my project?

crew cab conversion

Anything is possible. If you know of a crewcab in excellent condition why would you want to cut apart your other truck?? Why not build the crew up.... and drive your other truck in the meantime??? Back to your question about stretching your F150. Yes you could stretch your frame but now instead of welding in one section of the frame your going to be welding in two spots....hope your a good welder or know somebody who is! You will have to extend your driveshaft, fuel lines, brake lines and wiring to accomodate the stretch. There are two reasons I wouldn't want to do what your questioning: one because you won't have leaf spring front suspension w/the f150 (asuuming your f150 is 4wd), and two, two welds in a frame are worse than one. It will take A LOT of time and money, but if that's what you want to do, don't let anyone stop you, but always consider the options! Good luck!!!!
